I love that we spent a weekend in Austin in the Airstream and almost exclusively spent time outdoors and at other trailers–the food serving kind. We barely entered an bricks and mortar businesses, although we've been to Austin a few times, so we didn't make any major sacrifices–there are definitely restaurants in Austin with bricks and mortar locations that would be a sacrifice to miss. Here are some of the food trailers and trucks you don't want to miss.
Oh, and first, let me mention where we parked the Airstream in Austin, because I highly recommend it: Pecan Grove RV Park on Barton Springs Rd. Great location and cool park. There are a lot of trailers permanently parked there, the owners proudly keeping Austin weird. You'll have to Google Pecan Grove, because they don't have a website. And plan in advance. Like years in advance if you want a space during South by Southwest or something. Probably a few months if not–it is popular.
